  1. As with all surgery, there is always a risk…no operation is guaranteed 100%.
Dependant upon your current eye condition, there is never a guarantee that you will receive perfect 20/20 vision.
I have enquired about laser surgery for myself but decided against it when I was told that I would still have to wear glasses for reading.
I didn’t think it was worth the risk so opted for contact lenses instead !
Eyes are very precious and cannot be replaced, think very carefully.

  2. I got LASEK eye surgery end of June-beginning of July, I had a -5 prescription in my left eye and a -8 prescription in my right so I was pretty damn bad, Im only 21 but have worn glasses for 15 years, to me I blocked out all the negatives and focused on the positives before getting it done, I felt it was a risk worth taking if it would give me independent vision…
and now almost 4 months on I can read not just the 20/20 line of the eyechart but 2 lines below it! :)
I mean there are going to be risks with any procedures, if you dwell on them youll never do it!

  3. Very regular occurrence. Don’t take any notice of ridiculous statistics of 0.1 % from a private clinic, they are in business to take your money not scare you off.
The government recently stated high number of unpublished patients dissatisfied with their surgery. Don’t call the first advert you see, get a referral from your doctor as there are a lot of cowboy outfits in this business.
For stats. try the Dept. Health
I know people who now have problems with night vision and also with hazy vision, for some it doesn’t even work and for others the clinic tries to get more money off you for failed surgery

  4. working in an opticians not one that does laser correction and i see many complaints of dry eye halo vision (blurred vision around the edges) and loss of night vision (unable to drive with this) many need glasses again after as little as a year there is no guarantee of perfect 6/6 vision not all prescriptions can corrected. THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU GO A HEAD WITH CORRECTION AND FIND OUT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THE COMPANY AND PERSON CARRYING OUT THE PROCEDURE (CHECK MEDICAL QUALIFICATIONS)

  5. The risk of anything going wrong in the hands of an expert is 0.1 per cent per eye. The risk is low and always improving

  6. it is said to be safe, and is 90% of the time but there are the other 10% who have horror stories to tell.
